The spirit of this place

You may wish. You may vent. You may be angry. You may be petty. You may ask for justice. You may hope out loud. What you may not do is turn Karma Willow into a tool to harm, expose, or harass a real person.

Most filings are private and are only ever seen by you. These guidelines mainly govern public filings, which appear on the wall for anyone to read.

This is welcome

• “I wish the person who hurt me understands what they did.”
• “I wish I get the job.”
• “I wish my family becomes healthier.”
• “I wish the rude cyclist gets endless headwinds.”
• “I wish I stop replaying this conversation.”
• “I wish tomorrow feels lighter than today.”

Naming a person by first name alone can be fine when the surrounding context does not reasonably identify one specific private individual. For example: “I wish Alex eventually understands how much they hurt me.”

This is not allowed

• “I hope John Smith at 123 Main Street dies.”
• “Everyone go message @username.”
• “Here is her phone number.”
• “I hope he gets cancer.”
• “Someone should beat him up.”

Concretely, keep out of public filings:

• Identifying details about a private person: full name in an identifying context, home or work address, phone number, email, social handles, license plate, government or financial identifiers, private medical information, or images used to identify someone.
• Threats or wishes for someone’s death, serious injury, disease, or sexual violence.
• Calls to action against a person: “go message them,” “report this account,” organised pile-ons.
• Stalking or anything that helps someone follow, surveil, or show up on another person.
• Hate that attacks people for who they are.
• Content about minors as targets, and any sexual content involving minors.
• Impersonation, spam, and coordinated inauthentic activity.
• Encouraging illegal acts.

If your filing is held

If something you wrote might identify a person, we will show a gentle prompt asking you to remove those details before it can be public. This is not a judgement of your feelings. The feeling is welcome; the identifying detail is not. You can always file it privately with every detail intact.

Reporting

Every public filing has a report control. Choose a reason (Personal Information, Threatening Content, Harassment, Hate, Spam, or Other) and add context if you like. We review reports and remove filings that break these guidelines. Knowingly false reports are themselves a violation.

Enforcement

Depending on severity we may edit visibility, remove a filing, limit features, or suspend an account. Serious cases (credible threats, doxxing, or content endangering a child) may be escalated to the appropriate authorities.

A note on the mythology

“The more people who Believe, the stronger a filing may become” is part of the story of the Department. It is not a claim about the world, and belief counts never change what is allowed here.
